But we’re just going to do standard length and pack it in.Īlso, just for fun, T&M talk about how they think Family Guy team reacted. STONE: It’s everyone on “South Park” who doesn’t want to be on “South Park.” PARKER: Hey, guess what? You’re back on! STONE: Really, to fit everyone it would need to be about eight hours. Tom Cruise and everyone’s going to be back. So basically it’s going to be an all-star, who’s who. All the people that are at South Park the town are going to file a class-action lawsuit against the town. But what if we bring back the biggest moments and revisit them – basically, we bring back everyone who’s at us. PARKER: And we’re like, well, we’re not going to be that lazy. We were looking at what a lot of other shows do when they have a 100th or 200th episode, and we were like, Oh, they do flashback episodes. PARKER: It’s pretty funny because the only show we have figured out is the 200th, actually. Have you figured out yet what you’re doing for the 200th episode? They hate them and openly refuse to do publicity for them. They were literally shocked at home much they censored and were pissed off. Then Comedy Central came back with the ban hammer. ![]() The network told them no, so they pushed it for the next episode. They make their episodes in a week, and can make up to 5 minutes of changes in less than 24 hours. The writers actually were planning on getting censored, and weren't, so it's not a big leap to expect them to not censor episode 200 nearly 10 years later.Īs for the cliffhanger, they wrote that on the fly. Actually, they didn't because they wanted to use it only a few times, but when they said they would use it a lot, they were approved, and did it 162 times, or 1 every 8 seconds on average. Of course they played on the networks weakness to cave, but remember South Park pressed the network to say 'shit' because Mark Harmon said it first on Chicago Hope in 1999. And that was AFTER 9/11, so this was not nearly that stressing. Episode 68, in 2001, already was Super Best Friends and depicted Muhammad, so this wasn't new. The original premise was to bring back everyone that absolutely hated South Park, or being made fun of. I think it ultimately came down to they either let us do it, or prove that American media is a slave to intimidation. Most didn't want to piss off the Islamic community, however there were many that wanted to express free speech. People were talking about it at school, work, on the radio, on the public bus. At the time it was on every news channel. They planned their 200th, however, they really didn't know it was going to get THAT much backlash (at first).
